David Croney: BSc (Hons) Music & Audio Technology
Ear training for music technologists
Although David’s work is not necessarily directed towards those with disabilities or differences, he has, nonetheless, been influenced by a subject with which many people in ALS share an interest: the differences in the right and left hemispheres of the brain. This is an area that some of our dyslexia support tutors research constantly, but David’s hypothesis was based on the view that most people rarely use key auditory skills when processing music. Apparently, this is because we are over-reliant on visual representations of signals. David has designed a computer-based ear training programme for sound technologists which could improve critical listening in a professional context.
