Second from the left in this photo is ALS student, Nat Hawley. Nat is currently in the second year of his degree in Television Production, an achievement that has contributed to his receipt of the Novae Educational Achiever Award at last month’s Prince’s Trust and Samsung Celebrate Success Awards.
This award is in recognition of a young person who has overcome barriers and developed new skills through education to enhance their future prospects. Nat has autism and dyslexia and comes from a difficult home life. His progress through education began when a teacher referred him to the Prince’s Trust Fairbridge programme. He gained accreditations in climbing, yachting, drama and music before taking the challenge of an access to HE course.
Nat is hugely proud of being the first of his family and friends to attend university and loves his independent life sharing a house with three other students from his course. He enjoys going to festivals and making films with his colleagues. Together, they have formed their own production company and are currently seeking investors for their latest drama – Glass Eyes.
